To understand how resource management in PPM functions, it's important to understand the difference between a supervisor and a resource manager.
An administrator has the option to assign a supervisor and/or a resource manager when they create a user or edit an existing user's details. A user may have neither, one, or both a supervisor and a resource manager. Both supervisors and resource managers are optional in PPM, though if none is assigned, this limits options for the user.
In PPM, a supervisor is an optional, assigned value. The administrator can choose to assign any user as a supervisor when creating or editing a user's details. However, a user cannot be assigned to be their own supervisor.
