Copying and Pasting Tasks in the Gantt Chart
|
You can copy and paste tasks within the same project schedule using the Gantt chart. (You can also copy tasks in the Task List, and paste them into the same schedule or into a schedule in a different project. For more information, see Copying and Pasting Tasks in the Task List.)
Note: To edit a project schedule, including adding tasks, you need to first check the
schedule out. If you open the Gantt chart without checking the
schedule out, you will not be able to add,
edit or delete tasks. Your ability to check a schedule out depends on your workspace role and permissions.
To copy tasks in the GANTT chart:
- In the Gantt chart, select task(s) you want to copy.
Select a task by clicking on the task number.
Select multiple tasks by pressing the Ctrl key and clicking with your mouse to select tasks that are not side-by-side, or Shift-click to select tasks that are next to each other.
- Click Copy (
) on the Gantt toolbar or Ctrl-C on your keyboard.
The selected tasks are copied.
- Select an existing task that will be positioned after the tasks you are going to paste.
When pasting tasks in the Gantt chart, copied tasks are pasted immediately above the currently selected task. To paste tasks at the end of the schedule, do not select any task (if you have a task selected, Ctrl-click on the selected task number to unselect it).
- Click Paste(
) on the Gantt chart toolbar or Ctrl-V on your keyboard.
The copied tasks are pasted above the selected task, or at the bottom of the task list (if no task is selected).
