Deleting a Task

With the appropriate permissions, workspace members can delete tasks. By default the ability to do this is limited to team members with the workspace-level project manager role.

You cannot delete a task that has actual worked logged against it.

Except in the Task List, you must check the task schedule out before deleting a task. For details on checking out the task schedule, see Checking Out the Task Schedule for Editing.

Note: If a workspace has been synchronized with a Microsoft Project file using ProjectTransit, tasks cannot be added, edited, or deleted in the PPM workspace. For more information about ProjectTransit, see ProjectTransit Overview.

To delete a task from the global tasks application:

  1. Open the global Tasks application.
  2. Click the Actions icon next to the name of the task you want to delete, then click Delete Task.
Note: You can also click the task name to open the Task Details window and delete the task from the Actions tab. For more information, see Using the Item Details Window.
    A confirmation message displays.
  3. Click Yes to delete the task.
