Estimate to Complete (ETC) is an estimate by the task assignee of the number of hours remaining to complete a task. ETC gives a project manager an accurate idea of the work remaining on a task.
ETC is initially set to the value of Planned Work for the given task and then dynamically decrements as task assignees enter hours worked against the task. A task assignee can edit the ETC, overwriting the calculated ETC with their estimate of the amount of work remaining before the task is complete.
ETC is calculated using this formula.
Note: The value for ETC is always the same on the task detail page and the timesheet.
Enterprise administrators configure their enterprise to use either ETC or Percent Complete (% Complete) to track task progress. (For details on how to set this, see Editing Timesheet Properties in the Administrator section of this Help.)
