Custom Workspace Names Step 2: Creating an Item Number Field

The second step in creating a Custom Workspace Display Name is creating an Item Number field that contains the second part of the new custom name string. This Item Number field is incremented automatically, based on the values of Next Item Number and Workspace Item Number Incrementer Value on the Edit Workspace screen. Note: This procedure assumes a familiarity with the Custom Field Wizard and does not go into detail about all the options the wizard contains. For more detailed information about creating custom fields, see Creating Custom Workspace Type Fields.

To create an Auto Name Number custom Item Number field:

In Step 1 of the wizard:
Give the field a name.
For example Workspace_auto-name_number.
Specify that it is a Required field.
Specify that it is a Profile field.
Select the Workspace type in which the field should be included.
Note: You should select the same workspace type you selected for the Text field.

In Step 2:
Specify that the field is an Item Number field.
Click Save & Finish to save the new field.
