Administrators create resource types to define
the "resource pools" that workspace members can be a part of.
Each resource type can (and likely will) have multiple members associated
with it, but each member can be associated with a single resource type.
The resource types you create will depend on how your organization is
doing its resource planning.
For example, you might create a resource type "Development"
and assign all your programmers to that resource type.
To create A Resource type:
- On the Administration Home
page, under Resources, click Resource
Types.
A list of resource types displays.
- Click New
Resource Type.
The Resource Type Details screen displays.
- Type the name of the resource
type you are creating in the Name
text box.
- To specify billing rates
for the resource type:
Note: If you do not select or type internal and external billing
rates, the resource type will default to a rate of 0.
- To specify
an internal billing rate:
- Type an hourly
rate (in integers) in the Internal Rate
field, or
- Click the Billing
Rate selector icon
and choose a predefined internal billing
rate.
For details on using the Billing Rate selector, see Using
the Billing Rate Selector.
- To specify
an external billing rate for the resource type:
- Type an hourly
rate (in integers) in the External Rate
field, or
- Click the Billing
Rate selector icon
and choose a predefined external billing
rate.
For details on using the Billing Rate selector, see Using
the Billing Rate Selector.
- Type a brief description
of the resource type in the Description
text box.
- If you want to assign enterprise
users to the resource type:
- Click Browse Member Directory.
- Select the
users you want to assign, then click Save
& Close.
For details on using the Member Directory, see Using
the Member Directory.
Important: Each user or external resource can only be assigned
to one resource type. If you select a user or external resource that is
already assigned to a resource type, they will be reassigned to the new
resource type.
- Click Save
to create the resource type.
