Managing Custom Fields

Use the Custom Field wizard to add custom fields to native applications, user profiles and workspaces.

How you begin creating a custom field (how you get to the first step of the Custom Field Wizard) depends on what kind of custom field you are creating. The steps you follow depend on what kind of custom field you create. You may not go through every step of the wizard:

To add a custom field to a user profile, see Creating User Custom Fields.
To add a custom field to a standard (native) application, see Adding Custom Fields to Standard Applications.
To add a custom field to a workspace, see Creating Custom Workspace Type Fields.

Important:

If you delete a custom field, any data associated with that field is also deleted.
If you add a custom field with a defined default to an application, user details or workspace types, any existing records will not have the default set until you edit the item.
If you edit a custom field, you may impact existing data. For more information, see Editing Custom Fields.

Custom Field Maximums

There are limits to the number of custom fields you can add to a user profile, workspace or application in PPM.
