When creating or editing a workspace type, you specify the hierarchy rules that apply to workspaces of the type. Hierarchy rules involve two different options (or groups of options):
- Top-Level Workspace
If workspaces of the
workspace type can exist without a parent workspace, meaning they can be added at the top-level of the workspace hierarchy, select This Workspace type can be a top-level Workspace.
Impact to Portfolio Tabs—This is required if you want to associate the workspace type with a portfolio tab. Only top-level workspace types can be associated with portfolio tabs.
- Parent Workspace
If a workspace of the workspace
type can be a parent of workspaces of other types, select This
Workspace type can be a parent of the following Workspace types and then select the relevant workspace types. This is not the same as being a top-level workspace type.
Impact to Portfolio Tabs—The options you select here have no impact on whether or not you can associate the workspace type with a portfolio tab.
