Planned workspaces are those workspaces you consider to be well enough defined that you want to always include their resource requirements in the Net Availability calculations. If you feel a workspace is completely planned or nearly so, you can designate the workspace as Planned in Capacity Planner.
The Planned/Unplanned determination is specific to your organization and your workflow. For some, setting all the high priority workspaces to Planned and all others to Unplanned allows them to identify which workspaces can be started beyond the highest priority (must-do) ones. For other organizations the determination has more to do with how far along in planning a workspace is.
Note: Changing a workspace to or from Planned changes the value of the Capacity profile field.
