About Tasks and Timesheets
|
In PPM, Tasks and Timesheets are linked, and interactions
with one can affect data in the other. Values for Planned
Work, Work to Date, Percent
Complete, and ETC are consistent whether
you are viewing the timesheet or the task details.
Updating a task (either using Timesheets, or from the task
update) can affect Percent Complete and Actual Start and Finish dates. See About
Task Percent Complete, Actual Start and Actual Finish for more information.
Note: If your organization
tracks task work by updating tasks directly, you may not see a Timesheets
tab. Check with your project manager or supervisor to find out how you
should track project work.
When Tasks Appear on a Timesheet
Tasks display on your timesheet
- if all of the following conditions
are met:
- The task is assigned
to you.
- You are an active
member of the workspace.
- The Planned Start
of the task is before or within the current timesheet period.
- The Planned Finish
of the task is within or after the current timesheet period.
- The workspace is Active (tasks in archived workspaces do not display).
- The workspace state is In Progress or Not Started.
- or if any of the following conditions are met:
- Time (work) has been logged
for you against a task during the current timesheet period.
- The task is overdue.
- You have manually
added a task to your timesheet (see Adding
a Task to Your Timesheet).
When Tasks Do Not Appear on a Timesheet
Tasks will not display on your timesheet in these cases:
- If a task is 100% complete and has an Actual Finish that occurs before the timesheet Start Date, the task does not appear unless work was logged against the task during the timesheet period.
- If a task is deleted it does not appear.
- If a workspace is deleted no tasks for the workspace appear.
- If a workspace state is Completed, Cancelled, or On Hold tasks for the workspace do not appear and cannot be added.
- If a workspace has workspace-level time tracking enabled, no tasks appear for the workspace. Instead the Task Name column on
Timesheets shows NA and tasks
are not listed. The one exception to this is if a task for the workspace has work logged against it, the task does appear on the timesheet for the user. For more information, see About
Workspace-Level Time Tracking.
Note: For Workspaces
that have workspace-level time tracking enabled, the Task Name column on
Timesheets shows NA and tasks
are not listed. For more information, see About
Workspace-Level Time Tracking.
