When you set a workspace capacity to planned, the workspace moves from Unplanned to the Planned list in Capacity Planner.
Workspaces in the Planned list are not affected by custom view filters and their resource requirements are included in Net Availability calculations. Unplanned workspaces are affected by custom view filters and requirements for unplanned workspaces are only included if the workspace is included in the view. See About Capacity Planner Custom Views for more information on how custom views impact Capacity Planner.
You might change a workspace from unplanned to planned if you have high importance/profile workspaces and you want to take their resource requirements into account when determining how to allocate other workspaces.
Note: Only workspaces with resource requirements can be set to Planned.
Use the Set Capacity to Planned/Unplanned option to move a workspace between the Unplanned and Planned lists.
When you change a workspace, the Save All Changes button becomes active. Any changes you make in are limited to your local computer, until you click Save All Changes. After clicking, your changes are saved to the database. To cancel your changes, click Cancel All Changes.
Note: Setting a workspace to Planned sets the Capacity field for the workspace to Planned. This field is visible on the workspace profile and can be used in custom views (where its values are Yes and No). The field cannot be set except by setting a workspace to Planned or Unplanned in Capacity Planner.
